Festive Lighting – Wrexham County Borough Council

In 2018, we were awarded a Four-Year contract for the installation of Festive Lighting throughout Wrexham Town Centre. This involves a wide variety of decorative lighting including ‘Aladdin’s Carpet’ lighting, zig-zag rope lighting and street crossing banners on all the main shopping streets in the Town Centre. In addition, we install wall displays and canopy lights adjacent to and above high street shops, 12 lit Christmas trees and balcony lights on the Guild Hall building, a three part display and zig-zag rope lighting on Church Street, rope lighting around the museum, bandstand and on various trees around the town in addition to decorating the large Christmas Tree in the Town Square when it is installed.
The Christmas Light Switch-On event usually take place mid-November so we begin work in early October to ensure the installation is complete and all testing carried out in advance of the date. We usually assign two HERS approved streetlighting teams each with a van mounted boom lift, they complete all the installation and testing throughout the night due to the high footfall and traffic that can be encountered in the Town Centre in the run up to Christmas.
We provide a team of 10 operatives to coordinate the Switch-On event and call-out cover for the duration of the festive period.
“Since being awarded Wrexham County Borough Council’s Festive Lighting Contract, Mega Electrical have brought with them their extensive knowledge of external/highway lighting systems to safely plan and implement our vision for a partly new festive design as efficiently as possible. Over the course of the contract they have continued to carry out the programme on time and to a high standard, always offering advice and solutions when called upon. Their staff are friendly, informative and professional at all times which is crucial when working predominately in busy public places.”
